Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between western blot and gel imaging?

Specifically, western blot imaging systems allow for the visualization and study of target proteins within a mixture of proteins. Gel imaging is also commonly used in molecular biology, as it enables researchers to study nucleic acids using the same gel-based techniques used in western blotting immunoassays.

What is the western blotting troubleshooting guide?

Our self-help troubleshooting guide covers solutions to many common and not-so-common western blotting issues and helps your blots look their best. Details on blotting technology, available products, and methods, plus tips, techniques, and troubleshooting.

What is the protocol for western blot analysis of bn gels?

For Western blot analysis of BN gels, the protocol of Wittig et al. (2006) was adapted as follows. The gel was incubated in 300 mM Tris, 100 mM acetic acid, 1% SDS (pH 8.6) for 20 min with gentle shaking and then kept between glasses embedded with same solution for 1 h.

What is a western blot used for in veterinary medicine?

A western blot can also be used as a confirmatory test for Hepatitis B infection and HSV-2 (Herpes Type 2) infection.
