BackgroundThese instructions are for syncing your user account and password with the MVCS network. They assume youare in the office or on-campus and within range of the MVCS private wireless network
NotesIf you are working outside the office, the laptop will not sync files or password changes. When out of theoffice, continue to sign in with the same username & password as you have been using. You cannot switchuser accounts when outside the office
ProcedureIn order to properly sync your account with a Windows 10 MVCS laptop while at the office, do the following: 1. Power up the laptop. If you are already signed in to the laptop, check that you are connected to a work private wireless network (see below), and then sign out of the laptop. To Sign out, click on the Start menu, then click on the user icon at the top of the start menu, then choose Sign Out
2. Before signing back in, check the wireless connection icon on the welcome / login screen and make sure you are connected to your work wireless network. At the main campus, the network should be either the mvcs-private or mvcs-staff. At other locations (such as Connect, Daybreak, Family Center, Thrift shop, Recovery or Support Center) connect to the wireless network that contains the word private. Make sure you are NOT connected to a public network
3. Sign-in with your user name (first initial & last name) and your current password
Note: If you network password has expired, you may be prompted to change your password. If your password has been changed by the admin staff, you must enter your current (new) password to sign in
If you cannot log in, try your last known password. Do not try more than 5 times or your account may be locked out for 30 minutes
MVCS Laptop Sign-in Sync Instructions Page 1 of 2 4. The recommended way to sync your user account settings is to login in, wait while your account loads, and then sign off the computer. This will save your current setting to the server
Another way to check the progress of the sync is to login and locate the Sync Center tool in the system tray. This is in the lower right-corner (near the clock). Click on the white triangle, then double-click the Sync Center icon
In the Sync Center, you can check the status of the synced files: From here, you can also right-click and start a sync
Summary To ensure your account settings & profile has synced correctly, the following has to happen: a) Laptop is connected to one of the MVCS private wireless networks b) User successfully logged in with current (active) windows password c) User logged off and settings properly backed up
If you see warnings about your roaming profile not syncing completely, you should sign out, logon a 2 nd time, wait a minute, and then sign out. This should ensure the settings have synced
Once you synced successfully, you can take the laptop back out of the office and work remotely
Remember that you cannot change to another user account unless you bring the laptop back into the office and within range of the private wireless
NOTE: If switching laptops, be sure to sync the old laptop using these instructions. Then log off the old laptop and login to the new laptop. Your settings & preferences should then load to the new laptop correctly

Sync your account on your computer. 1. Select the profile image in the browser taskbar. 2. Select Manage profile settings > Sync > Turn on sync. If you see an option to sign in, continue to the next step. Note: If you see Manage profile settings, you're already signed in. 3. Select Sign in and choose an account or enter your account details.
Open the Settings app on your device. Select Accounts > Work Access. Select your connected account > Sync. Select Access work or school. Select the account that has a briefcase icon next to it. If you don't see this account at all, your company may have configured your settings a different way.
