HISTORYMinneapolis Business College is the oldest and smallest accredited businesscollege in the state of Minnesota. Our Medical Assistant Diploma and Associatein Applied Science Degree Programs also maintain programmatic accreditationby CAAHEP. Founded in 1874, MBC primarily offered accounting andadministrative programs. MBC moved from downtown Minneapolis in 1983 toits present location in St. Paul. Paul. The academic space contains a resource library and fourteen classrooms
Five classrooms and the resource library are equipped with microcomputers. Twoof the classrooms are designed for the preparation of medical assistants. One ofthese is equipped with microscopes and other clinical and laboratory equipmentfound in a modern medical office, while the other contains medical examinationbeds and equipment for obtaining patient vital signs. Copyright is a form of protection provided by the laws of theUnited States (Title 17, U.S. Code) to the authors of “original works ofauthorship.” The owner of copyright has the exclusive rights of reproduction,adaptation, publication, performance, and display. Types of works that arecovered by copyright law include, but are not limited to, text, music, art,photographs, graphics, film, and software. Copyright covers all forms of a work,including its digital transmission and subsequent use
It is illegal for anyone to violate any of the rights provided by the copyright lawto the owner of copyright. Copying copyrighted materials in excess of the “fairuse” limitation without the authority of the copyright owner, including uploadingor downloading works protected by copyright, is an infringement of the copyrightowner’s exclusive rights of reproduction and/or distribution. Unauthorizeddistribution of copyrighted material, including distribution of copyrightedmaterial through unauthorized peer-to-peer file sharing, may subject individuals tocivil and criminal liabilities
Copyright infringement violates the institution’s policies and the law. Anyonewho engages in copyright infringement, including the unauthorized distributionof copyrighted materials using the institution’s information technology system,will be subject to discipline by the college, which may include warning,suspension, expulsion, or termination. Copyright infringement may also subjectthe individual to civil and criminal liabilities. Anyone found to have infringed acopyrighted work may be liable for actual damages or statutory damages up to$30,000 for each work infringed and, if willful infringement is proven by thecopyright owner, that amount may be increased up to $150,000 for each workinfringed. In addition, individual infringers may be subject to criminalprosecution

STUDENT CONSUMER INFORMATIONFederal regulations set forth by the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amendedrequire Minneapolis Business College to annually distribute to all enrolledstudents and to prospective students upon request information about theavailability of specific types of consumer information. ADMISSIONS INFORMATIONADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTSTo be considered for admission to Minneapolis Business College, an applicantmust have graduated from or be a potential graduate from a valid high school,private school, or equivalent (GED). When an applicant has not yet graduated,offers of admission are contingent on high school graduation. Applicants areadmitted for enrollment on the basis of previous scholastic records as evidencedby a transcript of work completed in high school or college. Foreign transcripts ofstudents seeking admission must be evaluated by a member of the Association ofInternational Credentials Evaluators (AICE), the American Association ofCollegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO), or the NationalAssociation of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) to validate equivalencywith graduation from high school and eligibility to enter a college or university inthe United States. Previous training in business subjects is generally not required
All students will be notified of acceptance/rejection in writing
Students whose high school transcripts show a GPA of 1.0 through 1.8 (4.0 scale)may be accepted on the basis of an acceptable score on a scholastic level exam
Students applying to the Associate in Applied Science Degree—Paralegalprogram are required to complete a test for reading and written English expressionand may not have a record of any felony convictions. Currently enrolled LegalAdministrative Assistant Diploma and Associate in Applied Science Degree—Legal Office Administration students may apply to the Director of Education fortransfer to the Associate in Applied Science Degree— Paralegal program duringtheir third term. Student requests are evaluated on the basis of the student’scumulative grade point average, the student’s grade point average in legal coursestaken to date, and the student’s attendance record. If the application is accepted,students may transfer to the Associate in Applied Science Degree—Paralegalprogram at the beginning of their fourth term
ADMISSIONS PROCEDUREPotential students should call or write the Admissions Department to request anapplication form. To apply for enrollment, the student should complete theapplication form and submit it with the application fee to the Director ofAdmissions, Minneapolis Business College, 1711 West County Road B,Roseville, Minnesota 55113. Applications will be accepted for a period of fourdays after any starting date. Potential students may also apply online athttp://www.MinneapolisBusinessCollege.edu
Prior to application, potential students are expected to receive a tour of thecollege
Upon receipt of the application, the college will request a transcript of theapplicant’s high school record. Any record of post-high school education shouldbe obtained by the applicant and provided to the college. Generally, the applicantis notified in writing of acceptance or rejection within 30 days after submission ofthe application

If the student has a creditbalance on his or her account, those funds will be made available immediately upon thestudent’s request so that the student may purchase books and supplies

CANCELLATION POLICIESApplicants who have not visited the college prior to enrollment will have theopportunity to withdraw without penalty within five calendar days followingeither the regularly scheduled orientation procedures or following a tour of thecollege facilities and inspection of equipment where training and services areprovided. All monies paid by an applicant will be refunded if requested in MINNEAPOLIS BUSINESS COLLEGE: FINISH FIRST! 7 writing within five calendar days after signing an enrollment agreement andmaking an initial payment. An applicant requesting cancellation more than fivecalendar days after signing an enrollment agreement and making an initialpayment, but prior to entering the college, is entitled to a refund of all moniespaid, except the college may retain up to a total of $150. Written notificationshould be sent to the college president
REFUND POLICIESApplication FeeThe application fee will be refunded if an applicant is not accepted for admissionor if an applicant cancels the application within five (5) business days after beingaccepted by the college
Tuition/Confirmation DepositsThe Tuition Deposit and the Confirmation Deposit will be refunded to a studentwho gives written notice of cancellation prior to the start of the course ofinstruction. Once the course of instruction has begun, refunds of these depositswill be made to a student who gives written notice of cancellation within five (5)business days after the day of acceptance. (See No. 5 below.)Medical Lab FeeFor the purpose of refunds, lab fees for students in the Medical Assistantprograms are treated the same as tuition. There is no refund or reduction of labfees during a period of externship. To avoid fluctuation in semester or stand-aloneterm charges, lab fees are allocated over two and one-half semesters of theprogram. They apply regardless of whether a student is actually enrolled in a labat any particular time
Residence Reservation FeeA $100 fee is required to reserve a residence space. If a student cancels, a fee paidbefore the due date is refundable until the due date. The fee is nonrefundablefollowing payment on or after the due date. For late applicants, a fee received onor after the due date is nonrefundable except when an application is rejected
Residence FeesRefunds of residence fees will be made only to students who withdraw or who aredismissed from the college. In those cases, the refunds will be calculated in thesame manner as refunds of tuition
Tuition/Residence Refund Policy1. Each student will be notified of acceptance/rejection in writing. The date of acceptance will be presumed to be the date of delivery of the notice of acceptance; if delivered by mail, five days following the postmark date of the letter of acceptance
