So I rang the customer service and they in rude way said I should not listening to the delivery guy and that I have to pay £25 on top of the £40 for items I wanted to cancel!!! Trying to contact IKEA to resolve the matter was near impossible, with no telephone or email contact in place. Only through diligent searching on the internet were two telephone numbers found for IKEA. We have now found out that they are premium rate numbers and we were charged as soon as the number was dialled, not answered.

However, Ikea tells me the order is not accepted as I have NOT paid. But I have! I cant reorder unless my PayPay payment is refunded, of course. As others the delivery service, customer complaints handling, escalation and cancellation policies are astoundingly poor, inefficient, effective and damaging to the environment as well as exploitative of zero hour sub contracted delivery services. IKEA UK should be ashamed. Since it is impossible to escalate in the UK I will write to HQ in Sweden.
In the online space IKEA is now competing with the likes of Amazon and based on my (I admit limited) experience, is failing miserably. Maybe they should stick to their original model of store pick-up only and leave the more complex customer services to companies that are willing to invest in that area.
An email from IKEA admitting they haven't supplied everything and that doors and suchlike won't be available for weeks, and only if I pay more money, has arrived today. Not a word of regret or apology. This must be a very unhappy company to work for. Honestly, don't get a kitchen from IKEA.
